Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelids and is caused by a number of factors including as excess production of oil from the eyelid meibomian glands. In some cases Demodex mites can also be a factor. 

The sudden onset of flashing lights and floaters can be alarming but in most cases these symptoms settle spontaneously after a few weeks. In some cases the retina can have a tear or even a detachment which requires treatment.

Eyelids can be associated with a number of problems which are often the result of laxity or weakness in the muscles and tissues within the eyelid or following on from an injury or scar tissue affecting the eyelid.

It is very common to find a lump on the eyelids. There are many different types of lump, most are benign (non dangerous) but occasionally some can be cancerous.

Glaucoma is a common condition where the pressure inside the eye is too high, causing damage to the optic nerve and reduced vision. Treatment aims to lower the pressure and preserve vision. This can be achieved by different options, including laser, drops or surgery
