Mr Chris McLean

Chris is a Consultant Ophthalmologist who has been working in the Guildford area since 1999. He went to Imperial College Medical School, London and once he had qualified as a doctor,  spent several  years training in ophthalmology in and around London, before completing his training at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He undertook  the  Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Lacrimal surgery at Moorfields under Richard Collin and Geoffrey Rose. 

Chris has  extensive experience in small incision cataract surgery, incorporating the latest intraocular lenses including toric, multi focal and extended depth of focus lenses. Cataract surgery is  often performed under local anaesthetic but other options, such as sedation,  are available.

Chris is a founder member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society and has completed a Fellowship in oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery. Chris performs a host of plastic surgery procedures around the eyes, including entropion, ectropion and ptosis operations. He also treats skin cancers around the eyes as well as removing non cancerous lumps and bumps around the eyes.

Chris has expertise is cosmetic surgery around the eyes including blepharoplasty surgery and brow lift surgery and non surgical treatments such as botox and fillers.

Chris is the Clinical Tutor at The Royal Surrey County Hospital and is heavily involved in training the next generation of Ophthalmologists.
