Refractive Lens Exchange

What is refractive lens exchange?

Refractive lens exchange is similar to PRELEX, with the difference that a monofocal lens is used instead of a multifocal or accommodating lens.

Who is suitable?

Some people are not suitable for a multifocal or accommodating lens implant. Reasons for this might include concern about the possibility of halos around lights when driving at night or a high degree of astigmatism that needs treatment with a different type of lens. The fixed focus, monofocal lens is good for the correction of long or short sight and even without the benefit of improved near vision, can make a dramatic improvement in the vision of someone who has been heavily dependent on glasses all their life.
